Since 1998...
The Foundation has worked with a generous and committed Sunshine Coast community raising funds through numerous events including the Award winning CADET Training and Employment's Jobs for Health campaign and The House the Coast Built.
These events and many more raised in excess of $1.7 million to fund the new multi-disciplinary Sunshine Coast Cancer Centre.
Sunshine Coast Cancer Centre fundraising continues with the annual Row for Cancer.
Through 92.7 Mix FM's annual Give Me 5 for Kids appeal and the generous support of the community. $1.2 million has been raised for the purchase of paediatric equipment for our local hospitals.
We have implemented child-friendly areas at Nambour and Caloundra Hospitals, providing a safe and relaxed area in Emergency, Specialist Outpatients , the Preadmissions Clinic, Operating Suite and of course the Children's Ward.
The Foundation worked closely with the late Pastor Frank Ophem to raise more than $14,000 to help establish a Non-denominational chapel and prayer room at Nambour Hospital in 2004.
The Foundation provides $80,000 to District Staff each year to subsidise training through the Staff Scholarship fund.
The Health Foundation in alliance with the Reed Charity Foundation combined their resources to provide the community with the Reed Charity House accommodation facility for patients and their families requiring ongoing medical treatment at the Nambour Hospital. The Reed Charity Foundation constructed a $2 million accommodation facility on land owned by the Sunshine Coast Health Foundation. The facility was opened for business in April 2009 and is managed by the Australian Red Cross volunteers.
Ongoing fundraising continues to raise approx $280,000 to provide a ramp from the accommodation facility to the Nambour Hospital grounds to ease the burden of access for the patients and their familes.
